Professor Ling Kar-kan is a professional town planner. He was the Director of Planning of the HKSAR Government, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners, Director of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Chairman of the Country and Marine Parks Board, Interim Vice President (Campus and Facilities) and Director of Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star and InnoStars Award 2021.
He is now the Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Society, Senior Advisor to the President of PolyU, a member of the Board of Trustees of Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a member of the Board of Directors of the San Tin Technopole Company Limited. He is also Adjunct Professor of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), CUHK and PolyU.
Professor Ling is also appointed as an expert member of a number of planning and development related consultation committees for Shenzhen, Nansha, Hengqin and Qianhai in the Chinese Mainland.
