Emmanuelle Lejeune

Théâtre de Liège - Théâtre d’Europe

Emmanuelle Lejeune develops and implements ecological and social sustainability strategies in the performing arts. After beginning her sustainability journey at the Paris Opera (France), she expanded her expertise at the Representation Office of the Hauts-de-France Region to the European Union.

She is currently Sustainable Advisor at Théâtre de Liège – Théâtre d’Europe (Belgium), where she also coordinates European cooperation projects, including STAGES, an ambitious initiative dedicated to accelerating the ecological transition of the performing arts sector. Her work connects artists, cultural professionals, researchers, and policymakers to foster innovation, strengthen collaboration, and drive systemic change towards a more sustainable cultural ecosystem.

Organisation Description

Théâtre de Liège – Théâtre d’Europe is a major European venue for contemporary theatre and dance. Based in Belgium, it presents over 40 shows per season, supports emerging artists, and is strongly committed to ecological transition.

Deeply involved at the European level, the Théâtre de Liège supports both local and international artists through co-productions and partnerships, facilitating access to international stages. It also hosts partner artists across multiple disciplines and presents contemporary art exhibitions. With around 65,000 spectators, over 250 performances per season, and a team of about sixty staff members, the Théâtre de Liège stands today as a leading cultural institution in Wallonia.
