Professor Jimmy Ho

Assistant Professor of Department of Cultural and Religious Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Jimmy Ho is a researcher, designer, and curator in architecture. He received a bachelor’s degree in social science (Architectural Studies) in 2012, a master’s degree in Architecture in 2015, and a doctoral degree in Architecture in 2023 from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Since 2020, he has participated in multiple large-scale projects in countryside conservation, architectural restoration, and community engagement, funded by the Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme and Lantau Conservation Fund. He is proactive in architectural design and exhibition and served multiple roles, including the lead curatorship of Hong Kong Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB) in 2025, exhibition design of 100 Faces of Tai Kwun (the inaugural exhibition) for Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2018, and project management of public art schemes such as Viva! River in 2018 and In-Park in 2017 for Art Promotion Office.

He is currently working on community-based cultural heritage revitalization in coastal landscape in peri-urban areas.

Organisation Description

The Department of Cultural and Religious Studies is composed of three units: Cultural Studies, Religious Studies, and Theological Studies. We engage in the teaching and research related to the investigation, interpretation, and critique of knowledge and discourses of a wide range of social, cultural, and religious subject matters produced in Hong Kong, China, Asia, and the world. We promote creative and critical thinking, and we also encourage dialogues and mutual understanding among different actors and parties. We welcome those interdisciplinary attempts and international collaborations that would lead to innovative thinking and new solutions to existing problems, and in so doing, we bring related knowledge and discussions to students, academia, and the public. Faithful to our local communities, we are particularly committed to the values of compassion, equality, plurality, and responsibility, to cultivate a more inclusive and caring society.
