Meggy Cheng

Executive Director, Hong Kong Dance Company

Cheng received a Master of Arts in Cultural Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Dean’s List Honour), a Bachelor of Arts Degree at The University of Hong Kong and a Diploma in Drama at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Established her profession in the commercial sector, aspire to integrating business entrepreneurship with art management practices, Cheng took up diverse positions as the Head of Marketing in Chung Ying Theatre; Director of Marketing and Communications for Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra; and Head of Branding and Marketing at M+, West Kowloon Cultural District.

Cheng was awarded the Scholarship for “Clore Leadership Programme 2018/19”, named the “Marketer of the Year 2019” at the HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing Excellence 2019, awarded Gold Award at HKMA/ViuTV & Now TV Awards for Marketing Excellence 2023 and the Effie Hong Kong 2024.

Cheng is currently a member of the Radio Television Hong Kong Board of Advisors, Shatin Arts and Culture Promotion Committee, and Caritas Hong Kong Community Care Service Advisory Board.

Organisation Description

Founded in 1981, Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDance) champions Chinese dance re‑imagined with contemporary perspectives and distinct Hong Kong identity. It has premiered over 300 celebrated productions, ranging from classic adaptations to original interdisciplinary creations.

Since 2018, it has innovatively merged Chinese dance with martial‑arts traditions; several original works received China National Arts Fund support, with “Whispers of the Pines” winning recognition at the prestigious 13th China Dance Lotus Awards. Its arts‑tech dance drama “Storm Clouds Realm of Infinite” was selected for Hong Kong’s Signature Performing Arts Programme Scheme.

Acting as Hong Kong’s cultural ambassador, HKDance tours globally to leading venues across Chinese Mainland, North America, Europe and Asia to foster international cultural exchange.

Incorporated as a charitable non‑profit organisation in 2001, it is a key Hong Kong performing‑arts company receiving HKSAR Government funding, and became a Hong Kong Cultural Centre Venue Partner in 2026.
