Maria Consuelo G. Cabrera is a visual artist, independent curator, and teacher. She is a faculty member in the Department of Art Studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) and has attended the curatorial fellowships: Third Curatorial Development Program by Vargas Museum and Japan Foundation in 2014, Independent Curators International’s Curatorial Intensive Manila in 2016, and San Art’s Uncommon Pursuits held in Ho Chi Minh City in 2018.
She was the Cultural Center of the Philippines Visual Arts and Museum Division’s guest curator in 2023 and her concluding project was the intensive workshop “Upskilling on Performance and Visual Arts Curation.” She was one of 2024 recipients of CIMAM Travel Grant Award and has attended the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art’s annual conference held in Los Angeles. She embeds her projects into the navigation of the human condition influenced by propositions on identity and nationhood, the politics of labor, and ideology.
